Navjot Sawhney

Navjot Sawhney is building practical technology that gives people back time, reduces physical strain, and expands opportunity in communities where electric washing machines are inaccessible.

As founder of The Washing Machine Project, he developed the Divya manual washing machine after seeing firsthand how much time women and girls could spend handwashing clothes. The organisation now operates across 15 countries and has impacted more than 250,000 lives.

Navjot’s work centres on human-centred design, appropriate technology, and building mission-led organisations that create measurable social impact within real constraints of cost, infrastructure, and access.
